M.Phil. & Ph.D.
1. OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAM. The main objective of the programs of the Master/Doctor of Philosophy in Management, Statistics, Demography and Environment is to prepare students for research and teaching at the university level and for work in industry, government and non-government agencies.
An M.A./M.Sc. degree in the relevant subject for M.Phil. degree and M.Phil or M.A./M.Sc. from a foreign accredited university in the relevant subject for Ph.D. degree. Applications for admission are normally submitted at least one month prior to each semester. However, last date of submission of admission forms are announced by the college at regular intervals. The following documents are required by the School of Mathematical Sciences: i) Official
transcripts of all completed undergraduate and graduate degrees. Students applying for Research or Training Assistantships or Lectureships may apply for employment to the Dean.
To complete a M.Phil./Ph.D. program, a candidate shall: i) Complete
the required number of credit hours.
i) During
the second semester of course work, each M.Phil./Ph.D. candidate shall
be assigned an Advisor. 5. COMPUTER PROGRAMMING REQUIREMENTS. An M.Phil/Ph.D. student in Mathematical Sciences must show competency at least in one of the standard computer programming languages. The ability will be determined through individual computer programming courses.
The relevant Board of Studies shall appoint a Dissertation Examination Committee comprising the following: i) Supervisor
of the Candidate The M.Phil/Ph.D. candidate shall successfully defend his/her dissertation. The degree shall be awarded only on the unanimous recommendation of the committee. In case of failure in this, another dissertation defence may scheduled after a lapse of two months.
